MOMENT D'ENFANCE

June 16 to september 1st 2019

Pierre-Boucher Museum, Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada

At the heart of the space stands a sculptural work, the starting point of the entire exhibition. This sculpture captivates with the simplicity of the everyday life it depicts and the intimacy it reveals between two individuals. It bears the evocative title "Be Patient".

When one lingers on the details, one discovers a young boy and a girl. Perhaps they are brother and sister, or simply friends, comfortably seated in a chair that seems to provide them with a sense of warmth and safety. Their hands are outstretched, their eyes are sharp and attentive, attracting the birds with the food they offer them, in the hope of seeing them come closer. They then understand that they must remain still and be patient, hoping that these creatures of nature deign to land on their hands.

This whole constitutes a variation on a central theme. Thus, a multitude of works were born, each singular and unique, taking different paths, both in the techniques used and in the interpretation of the scene. The result offers the viewer the opportunity to wander through the exhibition, reliving past activities or childhood memories, rediscovering them through the eyes of an adult or through the eyes of the youngest who continue to reproduce these same gestures. Each of these explorations exudes something unique and of deep simplicity.
